Waterloo Regional Police Conducting Homicide Investigation in Kitchener

UPDATED RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario - Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service's Major Crime Unit, continue to investigate the murder of Joshua Bennett. 

A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death was a result of multiple stab wounds. 

Investigators continue to seek the public's assistance in identifying those responsible.

Waterloo Region, Ontario - Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service's Major Crime, General Investigation and Forensic Identification Units continue to investigate a homicide in Kitchener. 

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Joshua Bennett from Etobicoke. Mr. Bennett was a local college student. 

Police are releasing a photo of Mr. Bennett, in consultation with the family, to assist in the investigation.

"This senseless death has no place in our community," said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. "I want to reassure the community that we have a dedicated team of highly skilled investigators who are working hard to find those responsible." 

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of Paulander Drive and may have seen Joshua, to contact the Major Crime Unit tip-line by calling 519-570-9777 ext. 8191.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place today to determine the cause of death.

Waterloo Region, Ontario - Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a homicide in Kitchener and are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the deceased male.

The victim has been described as male, Black, between 18-22 years of age, with short black hair, wearing a grey Nike zip-up hoodie and grey track pants.

Waterloo Region, Ontario- Waterloo Regional Police are conducting a homicide investigation after a male was located deceased in Kitchener.

On September 24, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police responded to the area of Paulander Drive in Kitchener after receiving a report of an injured male.

Upon arrival, police located a deceased male outside near a trail in the area.

Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit, General Detectives, and Forensic Identification Unit are continuing to investigate.

There will continue to be a heavy police presence in the area throughout the day.
