Waterloo Regional Police Congratulate Inspector Ambrose on Being Named Chief of Police for Owen Sound

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service would like to congratulate Inspector Craig Ambrose on his appointment to Chief of Police with the Owen Sound Police Service.

Inspector Ambrose joined the Waterloo Regional Police Service as a Constable 29 years ago. He has served in a variety of areas, including Patrol, Drugs, Homicide, Professional Standards, Criminal Investigations and Intelligence.

“Inspector Ambrose will undoubtedly serve the residents of Owen Sound as he did the residents of Waterloo Region – with compassion, professionalism and a true dedication to public safety,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police for the Waterloo Regional Police Service. “We are thankful for his leadership during the past 29 years and for his contributions to this community. This is a well-deserved achievement and we wish him all the best as he begins a new chapter.”

Inspector Ambrose will replace Owen Sound Police Chief Bill Somberger, who is retiring after 42 years of policing.

“It will be difficult to leave the Waterloo Regional Police Service,” said Inspector Ambrose. “It has been such a great place to work and has offered me many experiences that will benefit me as I move on. I will certainly miss all the friendships I have formed over the years but a new door has opened and I am looking forward to new challenges and new opportunities.”

Inspector Ambrose will begin his new role on January 21, 2019.
