Waterloo Regional Police Continue to Investigate Fatal Shooting in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred in Cambridge on July 31, 2019.

From initial reports, investigators believe two groups of males, in two separate vehicles, were involved in an altercation at a plaza in the area of Franklin Boulevard and Jamieson Parkway at approximately 7:40 p.m. As a result of the incident, one male was shot.  

Police responded to the plaza, where they located a male with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

The victim has been identified as a 20-year-old Cambridge male. The male’s name will not be released until Next of Kin have been notified.

The two suspects are described as:

Suspect one:

  • Male, black, with no facial hair, a puffy face and black hair.

Suspect two:

  • Male, black, 25-30 years, wearing glasses.

Both males fled the area in a dark coloured car.

Police believe that the persons involved in this incident are known to each other. However, the Waterloo Regional Police Service would like to remind the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit, General Detectives and Forensic Identification officers are currently investigating. There will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.
