Waterloo Regional Police Continue to Investigate Fatal Shooting in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred in Kitchener on December 15, 2019.

Police responded to a residence on Windale Crescent in Kitchener at approximately 4:15 a.m., after receiving reports of shots fired.

Through investigation, it has been determined that there was a social gathering at the residence. During the gathering an altercation broke out between a group of people who are believed to be known to each other and several shots were fired.

Upon arrival, police located a deceased male. The male has been identified as Yafiet REZENE, 19, from Kitchener.

Two other individuals suffered gunshot wounds as a result of the altercation.  One was transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services and one was taken to a local hospital by friends.  Both have been treated and released.

Several people were detained at the scene and two people were arrested, one for Obstruct Police and one for drug related offences.

There will be an increased police presence in the Windale Crescent area as members of our Major Crime unit, Forensic Identification unit, and General Detectives continue to investigate.
