Waterloo Regional Police Continue to Investigate Shooting Incident in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred in Kitchener on June 24, 2019.
Police responded to a plaza in the area of Fairway Road South and Wilson Avenue at approximately 5:40 p.m. after receiving multiple reports of gunshots fired.
Upon arrival, one male and two female victims were located. The male has been transported to an out-of-town hospital in critical condition. One female was treated and released from a local hospital. The other female remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Initial investigation has revealed that an altercation broke out between three males in the plaza parking lot. A fourth male in the area fired multiple shots, hitting one male and two females. At this point, it is not known if the shooter is known to the other males involved in the altercation.
The females are not known to the males.
The suspect was last seen running behind the plaza towards the LRT tracks. He is described as male, black, wearing black casual pants, a black hoody, white socks and a red backpack.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit, General Detectives and Forensic Identification officers are continuing to investigate and there will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day. A command post will be set up in the plaza and a canvass conducted in the area as officers seek additional information.
Waterloo Regional Police would like to remind the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity of suspicious individuals to police.
