Waterloo Regional Police Continuing to Investigate Fatal Shooting in Cambridge

Waterloo Region, Ontario Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a homicide that occurred in Cambridge on April 17, 2019.

Police responded to an area on King Street East, near Church Street North and Westminster Drive North, at approximately 5:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police located a female suffering from serious injuries. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Helen Schaller, 58, of Cambridge.

There will be an increased police presence in the area as officers conduct a canvass of the neighbourhood and follow up on investigative leads.

A command post has been set up in the area of Westminster Drive, near Duke Street and King Street East, and members of the public are encouraged to approach an officer with any concerns or information they may have.

Waterloo Regional Police want to remind residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or suspicious individuals to police by calling 519-570-9777. Anyone with information in regards to this homicide, including anyone who may have video surveillance, is asked to call 519-570-9777 ext. 8666 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
