Waterloo Regional Police Continuing to Investigate Kitchener Homicide

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that occurred in Kitchener on November 26, 2019.

On July 28, 2020, at approximately 9 a.m., members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime unit will be in the area of 37 Vanier Drive in Kitchener conducting a canvass.

On November 26, 2019, at approximately 2:11 a.m., Irshad Sabriye, 20, was fatally shot on the on-ramp in the area of Courtland Avenue and Highway 7/8.

At approximately 4 a.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Connaught Street in Kitchener. Upon arrival, police located a black, four-door, 2019 Nissan Sentra fully engulfed in flames. Investigators can now confirm that the homicide and the vehicle fire are related.

Officers believe residents from the apartment building may have information that would assist in the investigation.

The apartment building overlooks the scene of the fatal shooting, and the victim’s vehicle was seen in the area before the incident.
