
Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a series of frauds in Kitchener.
On January 15, 2025, at approximately 5 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police received six reports t regarding taxi fare frauds in Kitchener.
Victims were approached in parking lots by an individual who requested assistance with paying for a fare. The victims provided payment by debit card in exchange for cash. The transactions were identified as fraudulent.
The General Investigations Unit continues to investigate these incidents.
Police have also responded to other incidents in the Region where individuals offer fake jewellery as gifts, attempt to put it on, and steal jewellery the victim was wearing previously.
Anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour, or has information, is asked to call police at 519-570-9777.
