Waterloo Regional Police Investigate Homicide in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred in Kitchener on November 26, 2019.

At approximately 2:20 a.m., members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service, along with members of the Ontario Provincial Police Service, responded to the area of Courtland Avenue and Highway 7/8 after receiving reports of shots fired.

Upon arrival, a male was located deceased.

Shortly after, at approximately 4 a.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Connaught Street in Kitchener. Investigators are looking into whether the two incidents are connected.

Investigators are conducting a canvass in both areas and an increased police presence will continue as members of our Major Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, and General Detectives continue to investigate. Members of the Ontario Provincial Police Service are assisting in the investigation. The eastbound on-and-off ramps at Courtland Avenue will remain closed overnight. The eastbound lanes of Highway 7/8 at Homer Watson Boulevard will be opened later this evening.
