Waterloo Regional Police Investigate Homicide

Waterloo Region, Ontario –  The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime unit is investigating a homicide that occurred in Kitchener on Thursday, October 19, 2017.

Police responded to an apartment at 140 King Street West at approximately 4:30 p.m. for a report of an injured male.

Bernard Joseph Gallant, 73, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted in Hamilton today.

Megan Lynn Birtch, 19, form Waterloo, has been charged with one count of second degree murder in connection with this incident.

The victim and the accused were known to each other.
