Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a multiple shooting at a residence in Kitchener.
On April 22, 2021, at approximately 9:37 p.m., police responded to reports of shots fired at a residence in the area of Overlea Drive and Overlea Court in Kitchener.
Upon arrival, police located two individuals, a 26-year-old Milton male, and a 19-year-old Kitchener male, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Through further investigation, a third individual, a 26-year-old Brampton male, was located and was also suffering from gunshots wounds.
All of the males were transported to hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with serious and critical injuries.
As a result of the initial investigation, police believe that a group of individuals arrived in a vehicle and a home invasion occurred. Two males entered the residence and multiple firearms were discharged while inside the residence.
Two of the males at hospital are believed to be the males who entered the residence.
Police have arrested a 26-year-old Brampton male. Further arrests and charges are anticipated as the investigation is ongoing.
Investigators believe that this is a targeted incident, and the males entered the residence for a specific purpose.
Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit, General Investigations Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Emergency Response Team continue to investigate.
There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day. A canvass of the area will be conducted and anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
