Waterloo Regional Police Investigate Shooting Incident in Kitchener

Media Release

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Kitchener on March 9, 2020.

Police responded to the area of River Road East and Victoria Street North at approximately 8 p.m., after receiving a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police located a 20-year-old male with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital.

Several suspects were seen leaving the area in vehicles, which were last seen driving on River Road towards Frederick Street. Anyone with dash-cam footage taken in the area, between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., is asked to contact investigators.

At this point, it is believed that an altercation broke out between the victim and the suspects prior to the report of a shooting.

Police are continuing to investigate the targeted nature of this incident. However, the Waterloo Regional Police Service would like to remind the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day.
