Waterloo Regional Police Investigate Shooting Incident

UPDATED RELEASE: 

Waterloo Region, Ontario- Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest in connection to a shooting incident that occurred on March 23, 2021.

Members of the General Investigations Unit laid charges, and a male was arrested on November 17, 2021, in Milton.

The accused, a 24-year-old Kitchener male, has been charged with the following offences:

· Discharge firearm with intent to endanger life

· Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition 

· Possession of firearm or weapon contrary to prohibition order

· Firearm: knowledge of unauthorized possession

· Weapons dangerous

· Firearm in motor vehicle

The accused has been held in custody and will appear in court on December 1, 2021. 

On August 16, 2021, a 22-year-old Kitchener male was also arrested and charged in relation to this investigation. 

The accused was charged with possession of a restricted firearm and occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm inside. 

Investigators seized a restricted .45 calibre handgun in relation to these charges.

PREVIOUS RELEASE: 

Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a shooting incident that occurred in Kitchener during the early morning hours of March 23, 2021.

Police responded to the area of Blockline Road and Country Hill Drive just before 1 a.m. after receiving reports of multiple shots being fired.

A dark-coloured motor vehicle was seen leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Police were able to locate the vehicle a short distance away and spoke to the occupants, who advised that someone shot their vehicle before running away from the area. The suspect is described as a male who was wearing all black clothing, a face mask, and glasses.

No one was injured but property in the area, including several vehicles, received damage. The incident is believed to be targeted.

There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day as Detectives conduct a canvass of the area. Members of the Emergency Response Team will also be in the area conducting a grid search.

Police would like to remind the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or individuals to police immediately.
