Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have charged a fifth youth in connection to a hate-motivated incident in Kitchener.
On September 21, 2023, at approximately 2:20 p.m., a group of youths between the ages of 15 and 17, damaged a Pride flag, which was taken from Eastwood Collegiate, by stepping on it and then setting it on fire.
On November 2, 2023, police arrested and charged a Kitchener youth with Mischief Motivated by Hate and Public Incitement of Hatred.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have charged four youths in connection to a hate-motivated incident in Kitchener.
On September 21, 2023, at approximately 2:20 p.m., a group of youths between the ages of 15 and 17, damaged a Pride flag, which was taken from Eastwood Collegiate, by stepping on it and then setting it on fire.
As a result of the investigation by WRPS' General Investigations Unit, and in consultation with the Crown Attorney, four male youths have been arrested and charged.
Charges included Mischief Motivated by Hate, Public Incitement of Hatred, and Theft under $5,000.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a hate-motivated incident that took place in the area of Weber Street East and Jackson Avenue in Kitchener.
On September 21, 2023, at approximately 2:20 p.m., a group of youths between the ages of 15 and 17, damaged a Pride flag, which was taken from Eastwood Collegiate, by stepping on it and then setting it on fire.
No physical injuries were received as a result of this incident.
The investigation is ongoing by WRPS’ General Investigations Unit, with assistance from the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Unit.
