Waterloo Regional Police Investigating a Kitchener Shooting

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have arrested two individuals in connection to a shooting investigation in Kitchener.

On March 5, 2025, at approximately 2:12 a.m., police responded to a report of a male suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of Vanier Drive and Massey Avenue. A 30-year-old male was located with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound and transported to an out-of-region hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

On March 26, 2025, Waterloo Regional Police Service's Major Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Durham Regional Police Service, arrested two individuals in connection to the investigation.

A 28-year-old Oshawa male was arrested and charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Break and enter
  • Forcible confinement
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Point firearm (two counts)
  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Firearm or weapon: possession contrary to prohibition order

A 20-year-old Oshawa female was arrested and charged with:

  • Accessory after the fact

Both accused parties were held for a bail hearing and will appear in court on March 26, 2025.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are currently investigating a shooting in a Kitchener neighbourhood.

On March 5, 2025, at approximately 2:12 a.m., police responded to a report of a male suffering from a gunshot wound in the area of Vanier Drive and Massey Avenue. 

A 30-year-old male was located with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound and transported to an out-of-region hospital for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

This is believed to be a targeted incident. 

There will be an increased police presence in the area as members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's General Investigations Unit continue to investigate.
