Waterloo Regional Police Investigating Death of Infant on Cedarwoods Crescent in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating the death of an infant from a home on Cedarwoods Crescent in Kitchener. 

On August 9, 2020, just after 4 p.m., Emergency Services responded to a medical incident involving a 26-year-old female in the area of Fairway Road South and Wilson Avenue in Kitchener. 

During this call for service, police received information that led them to conduct a well-being check at an apartment building on Cedarwoods Crescent in Kitchener. 

Upon arrival, police located an eight-month-old boy deceased. The child’s death is being investigated as a homicide. 

A 26-year-old female has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. The female is the mother of the child. 

Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Major Crime Unit are continuing to investigate the incident; however, police are not looking for any additional suspects. 

There will be an increased police presence in the area of Fairway Road South and Wilson Avenue today, as officers conduct a canvass for possible witnesses and video evidence.
