Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is launching a Fraud Awareness Campaign to bring awareness to four different types of frauds that have been occurring regularly in Waterloo Region.
Throughout the month of August, WRPS will highlight a different fraud topic each week. The campaign will include stories from real people who have fallen victim to different types of frauds, including rental scams, online buy and sell scams, Bitcoin scams and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scams. Safety tips and educational information will also be provided to help prevent members of the public from falling victim.
If you have been a victim of a scam and suffered a financial loss, please report the incident online at our Online Reporting page or call our non-emergency number at 519-570-9777.
For additional resources and information about scams and frauds in various languages, visit Canada's Protect Yourself Against Fraud page, the Competition Bureau website, or the Anti Fraud Centre website.
