Waterloo Regional Police Lay Attempted Murder Charge

Media Release

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have charged a 48-year-old male with Attempted Murder in connection to an incident that occurred on December 21, 2020.

Police responded to a residence in the Laurentian West area of Kitchener at approximately 5:45 a.m., after receiving a report of a disturbance.

The victim, a 44-year-old female, suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident.  

The victim and the accused are known to each other, and there is no concern for public safety.

While in police custody, the male is alleged to have attempted to disarm a Waterloo Regional Police Service officer. As a result of the incident, the accused is facing an additional charge of Attempting to Disarm a Police Officer.

The male is scheduled to make his next appearance in Kitchener’s Ontario Court of Justice via video on December 22, 2020.
