Waterloo Regional Police Make Arrest in Arson Investigation

Waterloo Region, Ontario - Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest after investigating two fires in Waterloo and Kitchener. 

On July 16, 2022, at approximately 7:35 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of a fire within a business on King Street South in Waterloo. 

As a result of the fire, the business sustained minor damage, and there were no reported physical injuries.

On August 1, 2022, police received a report of a dumpster fire that took place at a business on July 28, 2022, in the early morning hours. 

The fire caused damage to the dumpster, and no physical injuries were reported. 

Through investigation, police determined that the fires were set intentionally and the same male was responsible for both fires. 

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old male was located and arrested on August 1, 2022. 

The male has been charged with two counts of Arson - Causing Damage to Property and Arson - Endangering Human Life.

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
