Waterloo Region, Ontario - In March 2021, the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Cybercrime - Internet Child Exploitation Unit commenced an investigation into a complaint of child pornography.

The investigation began after police received complaints from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre regarding a person possessing and exchanging child pornography in January 2021.

As a result of an ongoing investigation by the Internet Child Exploitation Unit, a search warrant was completed on April 1, 2021, at a residence in Kitchener.

As a result of their investigation, police arrested a 21-year-old Kitchener male, charging him with Possession of Child Pornography and Make Child Pornography Available.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. This project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
