Positive Covid Tests

The Waterloo Regional Police Service has been notified that 11 members of the organization have tested positive for Covid-19 since March 2020.

These include sworn and civilian members from five different buildings in Waterloo Region:

North Division – two sworn members

Central Division – three sworn members

Investigative Services – one sworn member

Operational Support – Communications – three civilian members

Court Services – two civilian members

Since March 2020, the Service has had a total of 846 members potentially exposed, with 787 cases cleared. Currently, 34 members are off duty for COVID-19 related reasons.

All areas where positive-tested members worked have been cleaned and sanitized.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service has been working closely with Waterloo Region Public Health to ensure proper contact tracing is undertaken. Members of the public do not need to take any action unless contacted by Public Health.

The Service continues to follow health guidelines set out by Waterloo Region Public Health and has implemented several measures to ensure the health and safety of its members.

“Since the beginning of this pandemic, our members have demonstrated their commitment to serve this community with the utmost professionalism,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “It is clear that COVID-19 continues to cause significant health concerns within the community and we encourage everyone to follow all guidelines set out by Public Health to ensure we stop the spread of this virus. Together, we can do what needs to be done to ensure everyone stays safe and healthy as we head into 2021.”
