Waterloo Regional Police Officer Charged With Assault

Media Release

Waterloo Region, Ontario – A 20-year member of the Waterloo Regional Police Service has been charged by the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in connection with an on-duty incident.

Sergeant Paul Tranter, who is currently assigned to Central Division, has been charged with one count of Assault Cause Bodily Harm in relation to an alleged incident that occurred on March 5, 2020.

The member has been suspended with pay as per the legislative requirements of the Police Services Act of Ontario.

He is scheduled to appear in Ontario Provincial Court of Justice in Kitchener on July 8, 2020.
