Waterloo Regional Police Produce Video for Bell Let's Talk Campaign

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are pleased to take part in the Bell Let’s Talk Day campaign and have produced an impactful video aimed at raising awareness around this important initiative.

Bell let’s Talk Day is a national campaign aimed at starting a conversation around mental health. Bell will contribute five cents towards Canadian mental health initiatives for every applicable text, call, tweet, retweet, and view of their social media video.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service produces a video each year to demonstrate its commitment to ending the stigma surrounding mental illness. This year, the Service’s video asks the question “who will you be texting for?” and outlines the various ways our members interact with the community and how these interactions personally affect them.

Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police, also produced a video with a personal message to the community.

“We must all commit to join together, talk to one another, share our stories, and reach out for help when help is needed,” said Chief Larkin. “We must all realize that seeking help is not a weakness but, rather, one of the strongest things we can do for ourselves – and for those who care for us.”

With an emphasis on ending the stigma around mental illness and accessing support, the WRPS videos acknowledge that mental illness can affect anyone.

Viewers can share or repost the videos and are asked to consider using the hashtag #BellLetsTalk.
