Waterloo Regional Police Release Composite in Connection to Fatal Hit and Run

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Services Division and Major Crime Unit are releasing a composite sketch of a person believed to be connected to a fatal hit and run that occurred November 26, 2016 at 6 p.m. on Cedar Street in Cambridge. Joseph Robert Paul Lalonde, 49, (known as Paul Lalonde) from Cambridge, was walking south bound across Cedar Street when he was struck by a full-sized, white Ford pick-up truck. He then came in contact with another vehicle traveling east along Cedar Street and in the left turn lane attempting to enter the Westgate Plaza, located at 130 Cedar Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The white Ford pick-up truck failed to remain at the scene and was last observed traveling west along Cedar Street. The sketch being released is based on information gathered during investigative canvasses of the area, as well as help from the public and media. The person depicted in the sketch is believed to drive, or have access to, a white pick-up truck. The male in the sketch is described as white, 45-50-years-old with a ruddy complexion, round face with jowls, stubble and unshaven, thin lips, a wider set nose, auburn/grey peppered hair, which was short with bangs, and a disheveled appearance. He was wearing a black jacket, which could have been leather or plastic. The vehicle that fled from the scene is described as a White Ford F-250, F-350 or F-550 super duty pick-up truck (1999-2001) or a Ford Excursion (2000-2002). It had a white cap on the back and would have received damage to the driver's side headlights and mirror.

Waterloo Regional Police are asking any witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information on the whereabouts of the truck or the identity of the person depicted in the composite, to call police at 519-653-7700 ext. 8666 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
