Waterloo Regional Police Respond to Fight Involving Several Youths in Kitchener

UPDATED RELEASE:

The Waterloo Regional Police Service's General Investigations Unit have laid additional charges in relation to a fight in Kitchener.

On December 16, 2021, at approximately 11:05 a.m., police responded to the area of Eby Street North and King Street East for reports of several youths engaged in a fight that involved weapons, including hammers, machetes, batons and hatchets.

As a result of the investigation, police have now charged two additional youth with criminal offences, bringing the total number of individuals charged to seven.

  • A 14-year-old youth has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault cause bodily harm, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and cause a disturbance.
  • A 14-year-old youth has been charged with assault cause bodily harm and cause a disturbance.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are pending.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service’s General Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate an incident that occurred in the area of Eby Street North and King Street East in Kitchener.

On December 16, 2021, at approximately 11:05 a.m., police responded to the area for reports of several youth engaged in a fight that involved weapons, including hammers, machetes, batons, and hatchets.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged five youth with numerous criminal charge.

  • A 14-year-old Kitchener youth has been charged with cause a disturbance, weapons dangerous, assault with a weapon, and assault cause bodily harm.
  • A 16-year-old Kitchener youth has been charged with cause a disturbance, two counts of assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, uttering threats, assault cause bodily harm and fail to comply with court order.
  • A 17-year-old Kitchener youth has been charged with assault, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, carrying a concealed weapon, cause a disturbance and assault cause bodily harm.
  • A 17-year-old Kitchener youth has been charged with cause a disturbance, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.
  • A 17-year-old Kitchener youth has been charged with cause a disturbance and assault cause bodily harm.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a fight involving several youths that occurred in Kitchener. 

On December 16, 2021, at approximately 11:05 a.m., police responded to the area of Eby Street North and King Street East for reports of several youths engaged in a fight. 

Further to those reports, police also received information about potential weapons, including hammers and machetes. 

Upon arrival, police located two male youths who were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services. 

Through the initial investigation, it was reported that approximately 150 young people were gathered in the area at the time. 

The investigation is ongoing.
