Waterloo Regional Police seize a loaded handgun as a result of a traffic stop.

On November 12, 2021, shortly after midnight, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Victoria Street South and Walnut Street in Kitchener for a suspected impaired driver.

As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle. While conducting a search of the vehicle police located a loaded handgun.

The occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested in relation to several firearm offences and other Criminal Code charges.

The arrested parties were held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing by members of the General Investigations Unit. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police at 519-570-9777, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
