Waterloo Regional Police Take Part in Crime Prevention Week

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is pleased to take part in Ontario’s annual Crime Prevention Week, which runs until November 10, 2018.

The week-long promotion of crime prevention is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, and all police services across Ontario.

This week, Waterloo Regional Police will be working with government, community groups and social service providers to promote crime prevention as a shared responsibility in our community and to highlight the importance of crime prevention as a means to achieving safer and healthier communities for every resident.

This year’s theme for Crime Prevention Week is Crime Prevention: Help Us Help You. Throughout the week, Waterloo Regional Police will be focusing on how the community can get involved and help prevent certain types of crimes, including theft, break and enter and online fraud.

A social media campaign, entitled #HelpUsHelpYou By…” will target specific crimes that are on the rise in our community and will provide safety tips and preventative measures we can all take to prevent falling victim.

“Crime prevention involves each and every one of us working together to make our community safe,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “We want all community members to be proactive and think about how they can help protect themselves and their families from crime. By working together, we can help ensure the wellness and safety of our entire community.”

The social media campaign will be featured on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. For crime prevention tips and additional safety information visit our website.
