Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is proud to support the Moose Hide Campaign Day.
The campaign, which is Indigenous-led, aims to bring awareness and action to ending violence against women and children.
On February 11, 2021, members of WRPS will be wearing moose hide or vegan Naugahyde pins in support of this significant day.
“We are honoured to take part in and support this grassroots event to speak-up and stand-up against intimate partner violence and gender-based violence,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “The Moose Hide Campaign goes beyond the gesture of wearing a pin and bringing awareness to this important issue. It is also a time to learn, to build cross-cultural understanding and support reconciliation within our communities.”
During the 10th anniversary of the campaign, virtual workshops will be offered on topics including: Integrating Indigenous Wisdom into Daily Practice, and Culture, Masculinity and Storying Our Lives.

Participation by wearing a pin and attending a workshop supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action, the Calls for Justice of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, and the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of Indigenous People.
