Waterloo Regional Police Welcome New Officers to its Executive Branch

Waterloo Region, Ontario – The Waterloo Regional Police Service is proud to announce the addition of officers to its Public Information unit, as well as its Equity, Inclusion & Diversity unit.

Constable Ashley Dietrich and Constable Andre Johnson will act as Public Information Officers and will assist with creating and distributing communication to news media and to the general public.

Constable Dietrich joined the Waterloo Regional Police Service in 2011 and has served in the areas of Patrol and Detectives.

Constable Johnson also joined the Waterloo Regional Police Service in 2011 and has served in the areas of Patrol and as a School Resource Officer.

“We are excited to have Constable Dietrich and Constable Johnson join our Public Information unit,” said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police. “They will be a welcomed addition to assist with the increasing demands of traditional media, as well as social media. Both officers bring a wealth of policing experience to the role and will help ensure the timely and accurate release of information to the public.”

The Waterloo Regional Police Service is also excited to announce that its Equity, Inclusion & Diversity unit is growing with two officers now dedicated full-time to enhancing relationships with our diverse community members. The knowledge they gain from these relationships will then be used to enhance the service we provide to our community.

Sergeant Julie Sudds joined the Service in 1994 and has served in the areas of Patrol, Detectives, Professional Standards, Major Case and Training. She has served on the Diversity Committee at WRPS for eight years.

Constable Eric Boynton joined the Service in 2012 and has served in the areas of Patrol, CORE, Criminal Intelligence and Recruiting. He is currently a Doctor of Social Science student studying Diversity in Police Recruitment and spends his extra time teaching locally at the college level in diversity focused courses.

“Our community is growing every day and is becoming increasingly more diverse,” said Chief Larkin. “As a police service, we want to ensure we accurately reflect our community and its members and that we continue to foster relationships and connections with all cultural and faith-based groups.”

In their roles, the officers will be seen regularly in the community, building relationships and helping highlight and promote the great work done by Waterloo Regional Police members on a daily basis. If you see them, take time to say hello!
