Waterloo Region, Ontario – Emergency services responded to a residential fire in Kitchener this morning.
On April 14, 2023, at approximately 10 a.m., emergency services responded to the area of Cedar Street South and St. George Street after receiving reports of a home on fire.
Officers arrived on the scene and evacuated neighbouring homes due to the presence of heavy smoke billowing from the upper level of the home and ensured no one was present on the main floor of the home on fire.
The Kitchener Fire Department extinguished the fire that was primarily contained to the third floor.
Victims Services and Red Cross resources were made available to the residents, none of whom were home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is not considered suspicious.
