WRPS and Partnering Emergency Services Continue to Search for Two Persons from the Grand River

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Emergency services have located a second deceased female on the banks of the Grand River in Paris.

On July 16, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m., emergency services, including Waterloo Regional Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Cambridge Fire Department, and Brant County Fire Department attended the area of Willow Street where it was believed a body was spotted in the river.

Emergency services confirmed the body was a deceased female.

Police are still working on confirming the identity of the female.

No further searches are continuing at this time.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Emergency services have located a body on the banks of the Grand River in Kitchener.

On July 15, 2024, at approximately 6:10 p.m., emergency services, including Waterloo Regional Police, Ontario Provincial Police, Cambridge Fire Department, and Kitchener Fire Department, attended the area of Old Mill Road where it was believed a body was spotted in the river.

Upon arrival and locating the body, emergency services confirmed the body was a deceased individual.

Police are still working on confirming the identity of the person found, and if they are one of the people who were reported missing from the Grand River on July 13, 2024.

PREVIOUS MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Emergency services are continuing their search for two individuals in the Grand River in Kitchener.

On July 13th, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., emergency services were contacted to report two persons in distress while boating in the Grand River.

Police, Kitchener Fire Department, and Paramedics attended. Upon arrival, emergency services observed treacherous water conditions and believed it to be a contributing factor. Emergency services were unable to locate the two individuals. WRPS utilized the Remote Piloted Vehicle to assist in the search of the area.

Along with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, Waterloo Regional REACT, Cambridge Fire Department, Grand River Conservation Authority, Kitchener Fire Department, and the Region of Waterloo, ongoing efforts are underway to locate and recover the two missing persons.
