
Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service's Cybercrime - Internet Child Exploitation Unit has laid charges in an ongoing child pornography investigation.
In October 2023, police began an investigation after receiving information from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) regarding a male sharing child sexual abuse material on social media.
On November 30, 2023, officers from the Cybercrime - Internet Child Exploitation Unit and Direct-Action Response Team (DART) completed a search warrant at a residence on Shelly Drive in Kitchener.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and charged with the following:
- Possession of Child Pornography (three counts)
- Make Available Child Pornography (two counts)
The male was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
