WRPS Arrest Male After Responding to Physical Altercation in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario  Waterloo Regional Police arrested a male after responding to a physical altercation in Kitchener.

On May 18, 2024, at approximately 3:40 p.m., police responded to reports of a physical altercation on the roadway in the area of King Street West and Pine Street.

Through investigation, it was determined that two males became engaged in a physical altercation. One of the individuals was assaulted and fell onto the light rail transit (LRT) tracks. A passerby stopped to intervene when they were also assaulted by the suspect, and had their personal property damaged.

Officers arrived and arrested the suspect.

The victim, a 55-year-old Waterloo male, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 20-year-old Waterloo male was charged with the following:

  • Assault (two counts)
  • Mischief under $5,000

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
