Waterloo Region, Ontario – Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Special Victims Unit have arrested a male in connection to a sexual assault investigation.
In April 2022, staff at the Grand Valley Institution for Women reported to police a sexual relationship involving a correctional officer and an inmate.
The Special Victims Unit and General Investigations Unit of the Waterloo Regional Police Service commenced an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, on December 9, 2022, a 43-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault and Breach of Trust.
The male will appear in court on January 9, 2023.
The investigation is ongoing.
