UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Region, Ontario - Waterloo Regional Police have arrested three youths after tombstones were damaged at a Cambridge Cemetery.
On May 19, 2024, at approximately 7:35 a.m., police responded to Blenheim Road for reports of a possible theft of construction equipment.
Officers arrived in the area and located the abandoned piece of construction equipment within Mount View Cemetery. Officers had also discovered that tombstones had been pushed over.
Officers located three youths within the cemetery with the assistance of WRPS’ Canine Unit and arrested them.
Through investigation, it was determined that the construction equipment had been taken from a nearby site and that the tombstones had been pushed over by the youths.
Three Cambridge youths, ages 15, 16, and 17 years of age, were charged with:
- Motor Vehicle Theft
- Mischief Over $5,000
