WRPS' Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft Team Charge Two Males with Drug-Related Offences

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police investigators have charged two individuals with drug-related offences in Kitchener. 

On January 16, 2023, WRPS’ Break, Enter and Vehicle Theft (BEVT)Team began an investigation involving a vehicle that had previously been linked to a break and enter and an assault. 

With assistance from the Emergency Response Team (ERT), two individuals, the driver and occupant of the vehicle, were arrested at approximately 4:50 p.m., in the area of Ardelt Avenue and Hanson Avenue. 

Subsequent to the arrests, an unloaded revolver pistol was located as well as suspected blue and purple fentanyl, methamphetamine, Dilaudid, hydromorphone, and gabapentin. Canadian currency was also seized.

As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old male from Waterloo has been charged with a number of offences including:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Prohibited Operation
  • Breach of Release Order (two counts)
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon

A 26-year-old male from Kitchener was also charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.

The accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
