UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Region, Ontario – As a result of an ongoing investigation into a collision that occurred on Spragues Road on August 4, 2022, the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Unit has charged a motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old Kitchener male, has been charged with the following offences:
- Careless driving
- Fail to surrender permit
- Fail to surrender insurance card
- Improper tires
- Improper number plate light
- Obstruct plate

PREVIOUS MEDIA RELEASE:
Waterloo Region, Ontario - Waterloo Regional Police are continuing to investigate a motor vehicle collision on Spragues Road near Alps Road in North Dumfries Township.
On August 4, 2022, at approximately 10:35 p.m., emergency services responded to a collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.
The motorcycle rider was travelling east on Spragues Road and lost control. The rider was ejected and the motorcycle slid a short distance before crossing the centerline and striking a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
The 35-year-old motorcycle rider was transported to an out of region hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The 35-year-old driver of the vehicle was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing by members of the Traffic Services Unit.
Anyone else who witnessed the incident or may have any video footage is asked to call the Traffic Services Unit at 519-570-9777 extension 8856 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Spragues Road was closed for several hours for the investigation.
