Collision investigation.

Waterloo Region, Ontario - On August 4, 2022, at approximately 12:35 a.m., emergency services responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Shantz Hill Road between Preston Parkway and Fountain Street South in Cambridge.

The initial investigation determined that the driver of a Dodge Journey was travelling south on Shantz Hill Road, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole.

A male driver was reported fleeing the scene and was last seen walking along Preston Parkway.

Due to the hydro pole being damaged, power was lost to the area. Crews were on scene for several hours to restore power and fix the pole. Shantz Hill Road was closed for several hours for the investigation.

The investigation is ongoing by members of our Traffic Services Unit.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any video footage is asked to call the Traffic Services Unit at 519-570-9777 extension 8856 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
