WRPS Continue to Investigate Cyclist Collision in Cambridge

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit has laid charges in connection to a collision in Cambridge.

On April 14, 2023, at approximately 6 p.m., emergency services responded to the intersection of Francis Street and Tait Street in Cambridge for reports of a collision involving a vehicle and bicycle.

The cyclist was transported by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries and has since been released.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, the cyclist, a 31-year-old male, has been charged with Disobey Stop Sign - Fail to Stop under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

Waterloo Region, Ontario – WRPS’ Traffic Services Unit is investigating a collision involving a motor vehicle and a cyclist.

On April 14, 2023, at approximately 6 p.m., emergency services responded to the intersection of Francis Street and Tait Street in Cambridge for reports of a collision.

Through the initial investigation, police determined that a cyclist failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle travelling on Tait Street.

The cyclist, a 31-year-old male, was transported by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services to an out-of-region hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, a 58-year-old male, reported no physical injuries.

The investigation is ongoing by the Traffic Services Unit and charges are pending.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or may have information or video footage is asked to call the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Services Unit at 519-570-9777, extension 8856.
