
Waterloo Region, Ontario – Officers from WRPS’ Direct Action Response Team (DART) have charged a male with more than 20 criminal offences in connection to a stolen motor vehicle investigation in Kitchener.
On April 14, 2023, at approximately 1 p.m., DART officers on proactive patrol located a stolen motor vehicle in the area of Victoria Street South and Walnut Street South and arrested a male after a brief foot pursuit.
Through investigation, officers determined that the male was wanted on a Canada-wide parole revocation warrant.
Officers also located and seized an automobile master key, a loaded handgun, a prohibited magazine, suspected fentanyl, oxycodone, and cocaine, and Canadian currency.
As a result of the investigation, the male, a 27-year-old from Toronto, is being charged with numerous offences, including:
- Possess firearm contrary to order (five counts)
- Possess ammunition contrary to order (five counts)
- Carry concealed weapon
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Careless use of a firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Careless storage of ammunition
- Possess prohibited device
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose - firearm
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose - ammunition
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (three counts)
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possess automobile master key
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
