Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Direct Action Response Team (DART) has seized over $95,000 worth of drugs after completing a search warrant in Cambridge.
On May 11, 2023, members of DART and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) completed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Beverly Street and Main Street.
Investigators seized a large amount of drugs, including suspected cocaine (crack and powdered), fentanyl, methamphetamine, oxycodone, and morphine. The approximate value of the seized drugs is over $95,000.
Canadian currency, a handgun, a magazine, ammunition, and stolen property were also seized.
A 41-year-old Cambridge male was arrested and charged with:
· Possession for the purpose of trafficking (six counts)
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
· Possession of property obtained by crime (two counts)
· Unsafe storage of a firearm
· Unsafe storage of ammunition
· Unauthorized possession of a firearm
· Unauthorized possession of ammunition
· Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
· Possess firearm with an altered serial number
· Possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order
· Possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
