Drugs and Firearms Investigation

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have charged two individuals in connection to a drugs and firearms investigation in Waterloo.

On May 1, 2025, members of WRPS' Drugs and Firearms Unit and Emergency Response Team completed a search warrant at a residence in the area of University Avenue East and Weber Street North.

Officers located and seized a loaded handgun, ammunition, and drugs, including suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and hydromorphone.

As a result of the investigation, a 48-year-old male and a 36-year-old female, both from Waterloo, were arrested and jointly charged with multiple offences, including:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule I substance (three counts)

The male was also charged with three counts of possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to a prohibition order, and the female was charged with one count of the same.

The accused parties were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
