Waterloo Region, Ontario – Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's General Investigations Unit have made an arrest after investigating a report of a firearm located in a residence in Kitchener.
On July 19, 2023, at approximately 9 p.m., police received a report of a prohibited firearm at a residence on Evergreen Crescent.
Through investigation, police determined the firearm was real and arrested a 54-year-old Kitchener male.
Investigators then completed a search warrant at the residence and seized the following:
- Three firearms
- Imitation firearm
- Ammunition
- Gun powder
- Crossbow
- Expandable baton
- Spring-loaded knife
Police also seized a large amount of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized (three counts)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (three counts)
- Careless Use/Storage of a Firearm (three counts)
- Possession Contrary to Order (nine counts)
- Possession of Drugs for the Purpose of Trafficking (two counts)
The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
