WRPS General Investigations Unit Seize Firearms and Weapons in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's General Investigations Unit have made an arrest after investigating a report of a firearm located in a residence in Kitchener. 

On July 19, 2023, at approximately 9 p.m., police received a report of a prohibited firearm at a residence on Evergreen Crescent. 

Through investigation, police determined the firearm was real and arrested a 54-year-old Kitchener male. 

Investigators then completed a search warrant at the residence and seized the following: 

  • Three firearms 
  • Imitation firearm 
  • Ammunition 
  • Gun powder 
  • Crossbow 
  • Expandable baton 
  • Spring-loaded knife 

Police also seized a large amount of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine. 

As a result of the investigation, the accused was charged with the following offences: 

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized (three counts) 
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (three counts) 
  • Careless Use/Storage of a Firearm (three counts) 
  • Possession Contrary to Order (nine counts)
  • Possession of Drugs for the Purpose of Trafficking (two counts) 

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
