WRPS Locate Stolen Vehicle and Seize Weapons & Drugs in Cambridge

Stolen Vehicle Investigation

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Neighbourhood Policing South Division seized weapons, drugs, and arrested a male in relation to a stolen vehicle investigation in Cambridge.

On May 13, 2024, at approximately 9 a.m., officers were on proactive patrol on Hespeler Road and located a stolen vehicle parked in a hotel parking lot.  Shortly after, police observed a male suspect in the area and placed him under arrest.

Through the investigation, officers seized suspected hydromorphone, psilocybin, codeine, oxycodone, and other prescription drugs. A taser, pellet gun, bear spray, ammunition, currency, stolen identity documents, and two large knifes were also seized.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Waterloo male was charged with the following:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Carry a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (four counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon (four counts)
  • Fail to comply - release order (four counts)
  • Disobey court order (five counts)
  • Possession of an identity document (seven counts)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (nine counts)

The accused was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
