Waterloo Region, Ontario – On April 12, 2023, at approximately 12:40 a.m., police responded to multiple reports of a disturbance in the area of Pinerow Crescent.
An unknown male suspect assaulted a victim while walking in the area. The suspect made xenophobic comments towards the victim and proceeded to follow the victim to their residence and cause property damage.
Officers attended the area and arrested the male.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old male was charged with:
- Assault
- Mischief Under $5,000.
This is believed to have been a hate motivated incident.
The male was held for a bail hearing.
