WRPS Member Arrested in Off-Duty Incident

Media Release

Waterloo Region, Ontario –  As a result of an investigation conducted by the Guelph Police Service, a 17-year member with the Waterloo Regional Police Service has been charged with Mischief – interfere with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property.

The member, a Special Constable working in Court Services, was arrested on August 15, 2020. The reported incident occurred in August, 2020 in Kitchener.

The member has been placed on administrative leave while the Police Service conducts an internal review of the incident.

The member is scheduled to appear in Ontario Provincial Court of Justice in Guelph on November 27, 2020.

The disclosure of further details, including the name of the member, is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
