WRPS officer suspended pending SIU investigation

For Immediate Release:  November 17, 2017

Waterloo Region, Ontario –  Waterloo Regional Police have suspended a seventeen-year member of the Service in connection with an investigation into an on-duty matter.

The alleged incident occurred in October, in Kitchener.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been notified and has invoked their mandate. As required by law, no further information can be provided by Waterloo Regional Police at this time.

While the investigation continues, the member has been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Police Services Act of Ontario.
