WRPS Traffic Services Unit Investigating Collision in East Galt Area of Cambridge

UPDATED RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – WRPS' Traffic Services Unit have laid charges in connection to a collision in Cambridge.

On November 4, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., emergency services responded to a collision involving a red Ford SUV and a grey Toyota SUV at the intersection of Main Street and Elgin Street North.

Police determined the Ford was travelling east on Main Street when it ran a red light and collided with the Toyota in the intersection.

As a result of the investigation, on November 5, 2022, the driver of the Ford, a 28-year-old Cambridge female, was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

PREVIOUS RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police are investigating a collision that occurred in Cambridge.

On November 4, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., emergency services responded to reports of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Main Street and Elgin Street North.

Through investigation, police determined a red Ford was travelling east on Main Street when it ran a red light and collided with a grey Toyota in the intersection.

No physical injuries were reported by either involved driver. Two passengers in the Ford, both children, were transported to a local hospital by Region of Waterloo Paramedic Services with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing by members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Unit, and charges are pending. 

The intersection was closed for several hours for the investigation.
