WRPS' Traffic Services Unit Investigating Fatal Collision in Wilmot Township

Collision Investigation

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Investigators from WRPS' Traffic Services Unit have laid charges in connection to a fatal motor vehicle collision in Wilmot Township. 

On October 15, 2022, emergency services responded to a collision between a black Ford and a white Nissan in the area of Punkeydoodles Avenue and Oxford Road 5.

The driver of the Nisssan, a 22-year-old Wilmot Township female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old Wilmot Township female, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with life-threatening-injuries.

As a result of the investigation, police have arrested and charged the driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old male from Oakville, with the following offences: 

  • Dangerous Driving - Causing Death 
  • Dangerous Driving - Causing Bodily Harm
  • Careless Driving - Causing Death
  • Careless Driving - Causing Bodily Harm
  • Speeding
  • Stunt Driving

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on January 20, 2023.

Waterloo Region, Ontario Members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service's Traffic Services Unit are continuing to investigate a fatal collision in Wilmot Township.

On October 15, 2022, at approximately 7:35 p.m., emergency services responded to the intersection of Oxford Road 5 and Punkeydoodles Avenue for multiple reports of a collision.

Through initial investigation, it was determined that two vehicles, a black Ford and a white Nissan, were involved in a collision in the intersection.

The driver of the Nissan, a 22-year-old Wilmot Township female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old Wilmot Township female, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with life-threatening-injuries.

The driver of the Ford, a 19-year-old Oakville male, was transported to an out-of-region hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing by members of our Traffic Services Unit.
