PREVIOUS MEDIA RELEASE:

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a series of frauds in Waterloo Region.

Since the beginning of June, WRPS has received multiple reports of debit/credit card frauds targeting elderly victims.

The victims receive phone calls from an alleged bank investigator who claims that the victim's credit card is compromised, and they need to pick up the victim's card. The fraudster then attends the residence while the caller continues to speak with the victim on the phone. The suspect attending the victim's residences claims to be a courier from the bank and obtains the victim's debit and credit cards, which then are subsequently used by the fraudsters.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 519-570-9777.
